Thanks for signing up to attend my live virtual session. To make sure that everything runs smoothly, there are a few things that I need you to do before the start of the training session.
Step 1: Download and install my Virtual Classroom Application
All first time users have to download and install the Zoom application on their computer or mobile device before they can attend live sessions. For each platform there are free applications which you can download and install from the following link. Please copy and paste or click this link into a separate internet browser.

Step 2: Run a system Test
To make sure that everything will work as required, please complete a connection test from the computer that you will be using during the live virtual session. You can configure and test from the following link. Please copy and paste this link into a separate internet browser.
Step 3: Prepare your audio, microphone and webcam
While currently most devices have built-in microphones and speakers we strongly recommend using a headset or earbuds instead of built-in or loud speakers. Using loud speakers may cause echo for everyone else in your live session at times when you are also using your microphone.
You are required to have access to an operational webcam as part of this course. All participants and the facilitator are required to see each other (just like an in-person classroom).
Step 4: Join the Live Virtual Training
On the scheduled day of your training, you can join me in the HACCP Mentor Virtual Training Room. A link to the virtual training room will be emailed to you 24 - 48 hours prior to the start of your training. Please make sure that you check your SPAM / JUNK email should you not receive this email.
Useful Information
Participants who have previously completed the course found the following information useful in preparing for and undertaking training through our virtual classroom.
- Participate in the course using a desktop computer, rather than a mobile device. We undertake lots of activities which requires you to access not only the virtual classroom but also your email, google forms and Word documents. Having multiple screens maybe useful for you.
- Install a PDF reader on your computer (if you do not already have one)
- Have a copy of the course workbook available. This was issued for completing Part 1 of the course. You can download an electronic copy by clicking here. Please select the training link titled FSPCA Preventive Controls for Human Food Participant Manual (English).
- Set up a folder on your desktop where you can save all downloads and activities provided during the course. This helps you find information quickly and easily during the course.
- Several emails will be sent to you before the course starts. You will be requested to provide a copy of your Part 1 completion certificate within a few hours of registering for Part 2.
- You are required to register for the Part 2 Instructor Led course on the FSPCA website. We will complete this process during the course.
- Arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the start of the course. This will allow you to set-up and test your microphone and camera. The virtual room will be open 1 hour before commencement.
- As part of FSPCA requirements the virtual training is required to be recorded. This helps with student identification and attendance requirements. Recordings may also include screen shot captures through-out the course.
- Please feel free to contact me on [email protected] if you have any questions. If you have not completed face-to-face virtual training before, the more prepared you are, the smoother the process will be.
